Okha was visited by representatives of the Fund for Assistance to Housing and Utilities Reform Sergey Stepashin and Konstantin Tsitsin. Residents of dilapidated houses expressed their doubts about the successful implementation of the resettlement program until the end of 2024 – not much housing is being built in the municipality. People were assured that enough federal money (about two billion rubles) would be allocated for these purposes. In addition, contracts will be signed with those on the waiting list, which will indicate information about the timing and specific address of their resettlement. Someone will remain in the regional center, someone will move to permanent residence in the south of the island. Sergei Stepashin motivated the local authorities by the fact that the regions that early complete the presidential program for the resettlement of the emergency fund, recognized as such before January 1, 2017, will receive additional funds. So far, the Sakhalin Region is among the first in Russia to implement the program.
