The Sakhalin Region was among 30 regions in which the study “Epidemiology of cardiovascular diseases” will be conducted. It is being held in Russia for the third time at the initiative of the Russian Ministry of Health. The aim of the project is to study the prevalence of cardiovascular diseases and their risk factors in different regions.
According to IA SakhalinMedia, specialists from nine medical state institutions of Sakhalin will be involved in the study. They examine about 2 thousand people aged 35 to 47 years. Before starting work with doctors, we conducted training seminars and training sessions.
According to Yulia Balanova, a leading researcher at the Department of Epidemiology of Chronic Noncommunicable Diseases of the National Medical Research Center of Therapy and Preventive Medicine, the study is distinguished by the fact that not only those who come for a medical examination will be examined, but also those who have never sought help from a doctor.
Study participants will be identified by a random selection of addresses. Anyone who lives at the same address, regardless of the degree of relationship, will be able to take part in the monitoring.
Sakhalin has not previously participated in such large-scale studies. The monitoring will begin in September and will last until March. Each participating region will submit data to the federal center. The results will allow you to find out the real health status of the Russian population in terms of cardiovascular diseases and risk factors.
Earlier, the general director of the National Medical Research Center of Cardiology, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Chief Freelance Cardiologist of the Ministry of Health Sergei Boytsov told Izvestia that during the period of self-isolation, mortality from cardiovascular diseases in Russia decreased, despite forecasts of a possible increase.
