The register of notifications on the pledge of movable property, which makes it possible to check, among other things, the car of interest for encumbrance in the form of a pledge, was accessed more than 2.9 million times in 2020. In 2019, the number of applications was about 2.5 million.Such data was published by the Federal Notary Chamber at a conference timed to the 155th anniversary of notaries in Russia.

The register, launched in 2014, records the data on the pledges of any movable property. For example, in 2020, it received more than 2.7 million pledge notices, which is 10% more than a year earlier. And as of February 2021, more than 11 million entries were registered in the register, about half of which are data on vehicle pledges, according to the organization’s website on Monday, April 26.

It is clarified that by no means all of the 2.9 million calls to the register concerned exactly vehicles – almost half of the entries in it are the property of enterprises, the verification of which is important for participants in the corporate sphere.

At the same time, the growth of calls to the registry is due, among other things, to the desire of citizens to protect themselves when buying a used car. If the car is pledged, then no special notes are put on this either in the traffic registers of the traffic police or in the vehicle’s passport. And banks issuing car loans are not obliged to withdraw PTS from the buyer until they are repaid. Thus, an unscrupulous seller may well hide the fact that the car was pledged at the time of the transaction.

You can check a used car according to the register of notifications on the pledge of movable property by the VIN-code of the car or other known parameters on the portal of the Federal Notary Chamber. If a vehicle is found in the register, it means that it has this encumbrance.

Earlier, the Federal Notary Chamber reported that notarial actions in the field of corporate legal relations in 2020 accounted for about 40% of applications, services with a “digital” component – more than 33%, registration of contracts and transactions, including unilateral ones – more than 11%. for notarial actions in the field of inheritance law – more than 11% of applications.
