The economic effect from the implementation of the high-speed railway (HSR) project from Moscow to St. Petersburg will amount to more than 8 trillion rubles. This was announced on Thursday, October 1, by Oleg Belozerov, CEO – Chairman of the Board of Russian Railways.

“Investments in high-speed railways [составляют] 1.6-1.7 trillion rubles. The effect we should get from this road is over 8 trillion [рублей]… This includes 250 thousand jobs, taxes, additional transportation, ”Belozerov said in an interview on the Russia 24 TV channel.

It is noted that the construction of the Moscow – St. Petersburg high-speed railroad will begin in 2022. At the moment, Russian Railways are designing. The project can be fully implemented in seven years.

In addition, according to the head of the center for organizing high-speed and high-speed communication of Russian Railways Dmitry Kattsyn, in 2024 it is also planned to launch the Moscow-Nizhny Novgorod high-speed railway. This road will become part of the project for the construction of a highway between Moscow and St. Petersburg.

In early August, the deputy head of the Russian Ministry of Transport, Vladimir Tokarev, said that the Moscow-Petersburg high-speed rail project would be cost-effective, and that it would begin to bring net profit in 2031, Gazeta.ru writes.
