Russian producers talk about rising prices for tea and coffee

This year, the cost of tea and coffee in Russia may rise due to several factors.

At the end of last year, selling prices for raw materials for popular hot drinks in the country rose from two to eight percent. This happened, firstly, because of the poor harvest in India, and secondly, because of the ubiquitous restrictions associated with the coronavirus.

It won’t get any better. World food inflation in the coming months will not loosen its grip, and by August, tea may rise in price by 5%, and coffee by 7-11%, says Sergei Chernikov, associate professor of the Faculty of Economics at the RUDN University.

This trend will affect not only retail store sales, but also sales in coffee shops. The cost price of a cup of American is 45 rubles, but it does not take into account the costs of the business for decorating the premises, dishes, etc. A coffee machine alone costs from one and a half million rubles. And the ruble is weak, so coffee shop revenues are falling, while costs are rising, writes FAN.

As a reminder, we recently said that Russian tourists will receive money for vouchers purchased before March 31 of last year.
