Dmitry Peskov, Special Representative of the President of Russia for Digital and Technological Development, proposed introducing an “expiration date” for higher education diplomas. He announced such an initiative on Saturday, November 7, at his online lecture as part of the opening of the 20.35 Archipelago project and educational intensive (accelerator), reports TASS.

According to the expert, in the future, diplomas cannot be replaced by competency profiles or portfolios, but they will have to “migrate to the” diploma on demand “format, which shows the current state of your specialist knowledge.

Peskov called it absurd that now diplomas are issued for life. In his opinion, the documents of the new type should display the period during which they are valid.

“Who told you that he (a graduate – Ed.) Has not forgotten 95% of what he actually studied there?” – noted the expert.

On September 17, it became known that the Ministry of Higher Education and Science changed the rules for admission to universities. The new procedure will take effect from the 2021/22 academic year. Among the innovations is the permission for universities to hold a competition in several related specialties or areas of training within the enlarged group. Previously, it was allowed only for each specialty separately.
