The Council of the European Union did not include Russia in the third updated list of countries with which the union states were recommended to open external borders.

Algeria was removed from the list of countries, so 12 states remained in it: Australia, Georgia, Japan, Canada, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, South Korea, Tunisia, Thailand, Uruguay and China, but with the condition of confirming the reciprocity of opening the borders.

Due to the situation with coronavirus, the list is regularly updated. Gazeta.ru adds that the committee of permanent representatives of the EU countries will revise the document not earlier than mid-August.

The list includes countries where the number of new cases of COVID-19 in the past two weeks per 100,000 inhabitants was close or less than the EU average. At the same time, the number of new patients in the country should decrease.

Since July 1, the European Union has opened borders for residents of 15 non-resident states of the alliance. The ambassadors of the EU countries agreed on the preliminary list on June 26.
