Since January 25, the Rosselkhoznadzor has allowed the import of tomatoes into Russia from six Azerbaijani enterprises and seven companies producing apples. This was announced on Friday, January 22, the press service of the department.

“The decision was made based on the analysis of information received from the Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the results of the phytosanitary monitoring, as well as the results of the quarantine phytosanitary examination of samples taken during joint video inspections,” the statement says.

It is noted that apples and tomatoes will be imported from enterprises in whose product samples no quarantine elements for Russia and the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union were found.

On December 10, a ban on the import of tomatoes and apples from Azerbaijan came into force in Russia. Since October 22, 2020, 17 cases of detection of South American tomato moth (Tuta absoluta (Povolny) and eastern moth (Grapholita molesta (Busck)) in tomatoes and apples have been recorded for the EAEU.

After that, the restrictions were gradually eased. In particular, since December 21, Russia has allowed the import of apples from three Azerbaijani enterprises – Turaz LLC, Ran Fruit and Asadov Vagid. The enterprises are located in the Shabran region, where this year no quarantine objects for the countries – members of the Eurasian Economic Union were detected.

Two days later, the Rosselkhoznadzor lifted the ban on the supply of tomatoes from 12 Azerbaijani enterprises.
