The match took place at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York and lasted 2 hours and 42 minutes. Rublev became the first player in this tournament to serve the eighth racket of the world when he made a break at the beginning of the second set. Prior to that, Berrettini had won 51 consecutive serving games. Thus, the Russian took revenge for last year’s defeat at this stage of the tournament.
Rublev reached the Grand Slam quarterfinals for the second time. The first was at the 2017 US Open.
