Residents of the European part of Russia will face strong fluctuations in temperature and ice at the beginning of next week. This was announced on Friday, November 20, by the head of the situation center of Roshydromet Yuri Varakin, reports RIA Novosti.
According to the meteorologist, on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday on the Lower Volga (Volgograd region, Samara, Saratov), after a break, ice, snowfall and temperature fluctuations are expected again.
“There will be a union of two atmospheric formations and there will already be a hollow from Murmansk to the Black Sea to Turkey. Temperatures will be positive on the Black Sea coast, ”Varakin said.
He noted that next week the bad weather will be most noticeable in the west of the Central Federal District: from Smolensk to Leningrad Oblast. These regions are closer to the center of the cyclone, and the capital region is a little further away, so there will be fewer adverse weather events.
“There will be such a meteorological swing in the west of the European territory, zero crossing, snowstorms, ice phenomena. They will, of course, affect the northwestern, northeastern regions of the Central Federal District (Yaroslavl, Tver, Ivanovo, Smolensk, Moscow regions), ”the specialist specified.
Such “swing” will stop in the last five days of November. Subzero temperatures will be established and there will be no heavy snowfalls, Varakin concluded.
On November 18, the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of the Russian Federation, Roman Vilfand, explained what caused the freezing rain and the formation of a slippery crust on the streets of Moscow and the Moscow region. The specialist said that cold air lingered below, and warm air moved quickly above, which led to icing of snowflakes, they fell already in a state of supercooled moisture, which was the reason for instant icing of surfaces.
