Patients infected with the coronavirus, in most cases, complain of symptoms that indicate colds. A study by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) confirms the findings that coronavirus disease is almost always accompanied by symptoms such as fever, runny nose, and cough. The symptoms are very similar to those of the flu or acute respiratory infections.

The study was carried out in late June – early July in Bad Feilnbach, near Rosenheim in Upper Bavaria. A total of 2,153 adults took part in the survey. 85.5% of patients who have been identified with antibodies to the coronavirus with antibodies said that since February they have shown symptoms such as fever, shortness of breath, runny nose or cough. Many of those surveyed thought they had just had the flu or a cold.

RKI expert Claudia Santos-Hovener, commenting on the study, said that it is extremely important to do tests for people with the above symptoms in order to identify the virus and prevent its further transmission.
