Rescuers found the bodies of two tourists caught in an avalanche as part of a group of five people in the Tunkinsky region of Buryatia. This was reported on May 4 by the regional agency for civil defense and emergency situations on its VKontakte page.

“From 10 am (05:00 Moscow time) 12 rescuers of the Buryat Republican Search and Rescue Service began searching for the rest of the tourists at the Gorely pass. 10 rescuers of the Baikal Search and Rescue Service and two employees of the Buryat Republican Search and Rescue Service flew to their aid from Irkutsk. The bodies have been found at the moment, ”the message says.

Earlier on the same day, it became known that two tourists caught in an avalanche were taken to a hospital in Irkutsk in satisfactory condition.

On Monday, May 3, it became known that as a result of an avalanche in Buryatia, in the Tunkinsky region, five people disappeared. According to the regional Emergencies Ministry, the incident took place at the Gorelov pass, located near the village of Mondy.

Later that day, the law enforcement agencies of Buryatia organized an investigation into the incident.

The UK said that a group of five tourists who fell under the snow in the Tunkinsky region of Buryatia did not coordinate their ascent in the direction of the Sayan Mountains with the Ministry of Emergency Situations. At the moment, the investigation is conducting a check aimed at establishing a complete picture of what happened and clarifying all the circumstances.
