George Shultz, former secretary of state to Republican President Ronald Reagan and a great architect of American diplomacy at the end of the Cold War, died on Saturday at the age of 100, the Hoover Institute announced on Sunday.
“One of the greatest strategists of all time, having worked under three American presidents, George P. Shultz died on February 6,” said on its website this think tank attached to the California University of Stanford.
“Shultz played a key role, with President Ronald Reagan, to change the course of history by using all the tools of diplomacy in order to put an end to the Cold War”, added this institute whose ex -minister had been a member for over 30 years.
“He is one of only two Americans to have held four different seats in the federal government,” as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Treasury, Labor and Director of the Budget at the White House, has t -He underlines.
Another former Republican Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, hailed the memory of a “great American statesman” and a “true patriot” who “made the world a better place”.
