RDIF agrees to supply Serbia with 2 million doses of Sputnik V vaccine

The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) signed a contract with the Serbian government for the supply of 2 million doses of Sputnik V to the country against coronavirus infection. This was reported on Wednesday, January 6, in Twitter vaccines.

“The agreement between the RDIF and the Serbian government will provide vaccinations for 1 million people,” the statement says.

On January 6, vaccination against COVID-19 began in the republic. The use of Sputnik V has been approved without additional clinical trials in the country.

It is noted that the vaccine for supply to Serbia will be produced by the international partners of the fund in India, China, South Korea and other countries.

“Russia and Serbia have a long-standing partnership, and we support the decision of the country’s government to use the Sputnik V vaccine to combat the coronavirus. The vaccine is based on a well-studied platform of human adenoviral vectors with proven safety, ”said Kirill Dmitriev, head of RDIF.

On December 4, 20 doses of Sputnik V arrived in Serbia to study the drug for its possible use in the country.

On December 30, the first batch of the Russian vaccine was delivered to the republic. The next day, the Serbian pharmaceutical regulator issued a permit for the use of Sputnik V, noting that the drug meets all the conditions established by legislation and legal acts, which confirms its quality, effectiveness and safety.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced on December 20 that the country is considering the possibility of joint production of Sputnik V.

The first coronavirus vaccine in Russia and the world was registered on August 11. Sputnik V was developed by specialists from the Gamaleya Center.
