The government of Quebec will provide emergency humanitarian aid of $ 1 million for Lebanon.

This was announced by the Minister of International Relations and La Francophonie and Minister of Immigration, Francization and Integration, Nadine Girault, in a press release Thursday evening.

This aid aims to “support humanitarian action projects intended for the Lebanese population” after the explosions which devastated Beirut on Tuesday.

The amount will be given to international cooperation organizations in Quebec, the statement said.

“The close ties that unite the country of the Cedars and Quebec, including our membership in the Francophonie, ensure that this disaster has a strong resonance here. The Lebanese are a resilient and proud people, who have gone through great hardships in the past, ”Ms. Girault said in the press release.
