Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov considered the words of George Friedman, head of the American intelligence and analytical organization Stratfor, about Nord Stream 2 and relations between Moscow and Berlin, to be empty chatter.
Earlier, in an interview with Deutsche Wirtschaftsnachrichte, the political scientist expressed the opinion that Russia and Germany have been trying to combine “Russian gas and German technologies” since 1871, but one side allegedly constantly betrays the other. At the same time, he called the construction of Nord Stream 2 a threat to NATO.
According to Pushkov, Fridman’s statements are a profanation, which betrays the main “Anglo-Saxon nightmare”: an alliance of two European giants in the person of Russia and Germany, deployed against the United States and Britain, while such an alliance is impossible.
“Empty chatter, covered with geopolitical veil. It’s even a shame to listen to this, given the two world wars, when Germany and Russia fought each other both times, “Pushkov wrote on August 8 in Telegram.
The senator noted that Fridman’s demagogy was simply a search for arguments against Nord Stream 2.
Nord Stream 2 is being built from Russia to Germany along the bottom of the Baltic Sea. The Baltic countries, Ukraine and the United States are opposed. The latter intend to supply their liquefied natural gas to the EU.
A few days ago, the United States sent further threats of sanctions to German representatives, sparking outrage and accusations of meddling in European affairs.
