Russian artists refused to perform in Belarus before the presidential elections, as they do not support candidates, says producer Iosif Prigozhin.
“This is normal. In order not to fall under fire from yet another negative,” he told RIA Novosti.
Prigozhin himself, along with his wife Valeria, also refused the concert on August 8. He called the risk of contracting coronavirus as one of the reasons. At the same time, the producer admitted that he respects the Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
“The question is not even about money, but the question is that people simply do not want to have anything to do with politics,” he said.
Earlier, Leonid Agutin, Grigory Leps, Stas Piekha and other Russian artists refused to perform at the pre-election concert.
