The hotbed of tension on the border of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, where clashes between border guards of the two countries had previously occurred, was extinguished, the press service of the Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov informs.
“During the negotiations, the source of tension was eliminated, the situation was resolved,” said a spokesman for the press service. According to him, the working group of the government continues its work, all aid, including medicines and foodstuffs, immediately goes to the Batken region.
As noted, the commissions formed at the suggestion of the governments of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to resolve the conflict in the border regions of the two countries discussed the causes and consequences of the incident. It is clarified that a statement was made on the cessation of hostilities and the evacuation of the population, on the withdrawal of troops and military equipment from the borders. At the moment, measures are being taken to prevent the escalation of tension on the state border, the press service added.
