The President of Abkhazia Aslan Bzhania, during the New Year’s address to the citizens of the country on Thursday, December 31, called medical workers the main characters of the outgoing year.
According to him, it is they who are at the forefront of the fight against the epidemic. During his appeal, Bzhania expressed his deep gratitude to the doctors for their titanic work, and also wished everyone recovery to all citizens who are in hospitals.

On December 27, the spokesman for the administration of the head of the republic, Alkhas Cholokua, said that Bzhania’s COVID-19 is mild, treatment is carried out on an outpatient basis, and the head of state performs his duties remotely.
Earlier, Bzhania spoke about the assistance that Russia provided in the fight against coronavirus infection in the republic. In particular, he mentioned that a military hospital of the Russian Defense Ministry was deployed in the city of Sukhum.
