The plane of the Indian airline Air India Express crashed at the airport of Kerala, according to the BBC. There were 191 people on board.
A Boeing 737 aircraft flying from Dubai flew off the runway and crashed in two while landing at the Kolkata airport.
At least two people died, including one pilot. Most of the passengers were successfully evacuated, 35 of them were taken to hospital with injuries of varying severity. The rescue operation continues.
The airline said there were 184 passengers on board, including 10 children, and 7 crew members. Flight IX-1344, which crashed in Calcutta, repatriated Indian citizens who were trapped abroad during the pandemic.
