On August 8, a local resident, who works as a seller in one of the grocery stores, contacted the Petrozavodsk police. The woman said that she was the victim of an unknown man, the press service of the republican Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
As it turned out, the attacker entered the store hall and, threatening with a knife, demanded the seller to lie down on the floor. When the woman complied with his order, the man took 29,900 rubles from the cash register and disappeared.
Law enforcement officers have identified the criminal. It turned out to be a 38-year-old man who had previously been convicted of similar crimes, who had recently been released from prison. In a conversation with the police, the robber said that he wanted a drive and therefore decided to attack the store. When the man stole the money, he threw the knife and jacket in the nearest yard, and ordered a taxi himself and left. He spent the stolen amount of money on the same day, having rest in a sauna.
The robber is now in custody. He faces up to eight years in prison.
