In Karelia, a court sentenced a 62-year-old previously convicted man who was found guilty of rape of minors, the press service of the Karelian Investigative Committee reported.

The investigation found out that in the summer of 2019, a local resident, working as a shoe repairman, invited minors to a workshop he rented, located in the basement of one of the Petrozavodsk homes. There, a man molested children and raped them.

During the investigation of this criminal case, a lot of work was done to collect the evidence base. Thanks to the work of child psychologists, all the circumstances of the incident were established. In conversations with psychologists, the affected children talked about the violent acts committed against them.

As a result, law enforcement officers detained the attacker. It was possible to prove that the man was involved in four similar cases. His victims were three girls of six and eleven years old, as well as an eight-year-old boy.

It is worth saying that in 2011, the man was already convicted of a similar episode and spent five years behind bars.

Now the court has sentenced a resident of Karelia to 18 years and 6 months in a penal colony with a strict regime.
