The contacts between Russian President Vladimir Putin and the current US President Donald Trump are not planned yet. This was announced on Tuesday, January 19, by the press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov.
“So far, no contacts are planned, in fact, they may appear, but so far the president does not have any planned contacts in the schedule,” he said during a press conference, commenting on Putin’s possible farewell to Trump.
When asked about the contacts of the head of the Russian Federation with the elected American leader Joe Biden, Peskov replied that they are not planned either, since in the United States, in his words, “they are dealing with their own internal problems.”
“There are really problems in America, problems with the implementation of democracy, problems with expression of will, transparency, international monitoring, they have led to a serious destabilization of the domestic political situation in the country,” Peskov stressed.
He added that the Kremlin would not assess these events, preferring to simply “state their existence.”
Earlier on Tuesday, CNN said, citing sources, that the current US President Donald Trump will deliver an address before leaving the presidency, and the farewell speech has already been recorded. The video message was also published by First Lady Melania Trump.
The day before, it was reported that Donald Trump would hold a military ceremony on his last day as president. The event will take place at the Andrews military base near Washington before Biden’s inauguration, which is scheduled for January 20 at 12:00 local time (20:00 Moscow time).
