Volgograd doctors detect malignant formations at the initial stages.
As reported press service of the regional administration, Last year and the first quarter of 2021, over a thousand doctors of the Volgograd region completed their training in the course of cancer alertness. Among them there are 174 dentists. The acquired knowledge and modern equipment will help doctors to timely detect malignant formations in the early stages.
According to the Health Committee of the Volgograd Region, as part of the training, specialists examine patients using modern equipment for autofluorescence imaging of the oral cavity. Such devices are delivered to the city polyclinics and their subdivisions in municipal districts. The technique helps to identify precancerous processes and oncological diseases during the initial examination of a person. Such a diagnosis is extremely necessary, since malignant neoplasms of the maxillofacial region are characterized by a high rate of development of the disease.
In 2020, doctors, using a similar technique, identified 153 people with suspected malignant neoplasms, in the first quarter of this year – 30 patients.
Note that the region is undergoing the third stage of reconstruction of the dental service. Dental offices and departments that are part of the structures of the Kletsky, Pallasovsky, Chernyshkovsky, Kikvidzensky, Bykovsky and Staropoltava districts will join the leading medical institutions of Volgograd and Volzhsky this year. The premises of the new departments are being overhauled and equipped with modern technology, as a result of which it will be possible to introduce modern methods of treatment and improve the quality of services.
We add that a large-scale project is being carried out in the region aimed at creating the foundations of a unified modern patient-oriented healthcare system. Governor Andrei Bocharov demonstrated this project to the head of state with his support. The proposals were included in the national project “Healthcare”, which will provide the region with additional opportunities for the modernization of all medical services.
