State Duma deputy, former chief sanitary doctor of Russia, Gennady Onishchenko, on the air of Sputnik radio called a way to end the spread of coronavirus in Russia.

According to him, for this it is necessary to observe protective measures, wear medical masks and gloves.

“If we now all put on gloves, put on masks and observe everything, even entering restaurants, I guarantee you: in 14 days it will all be over,” the parliamentarian said.

At the same time, Onishchenko stressed that the weakening of restrictions in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic does not mean that all the dangers are behind. He added that full compliance with all anti-epidemic rules by the population is, most likely, his pipe dream.

“Today in our country a lot of people have already been ill, these people contribute to population immunity. <...> If we now make every effort to vaccinate, then we will stop the epidemic process, because we will have a powerful population layer, ”the specialist concluded.

Earlier on January 28, the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova said that in 2021, the mask regime in public places could be canceled. In addition, she noted that approximately 20-25% of Russians developed antibodies to coronavirus infection on average.

Earlier that day, Alexander Gorelov, Deputy Director for Research at the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, called the condition for reducing the incidence of COVID-19. According to the expert, the undulating fluctuations in the daily incidence will stop when 60% of the country’s adult population will be vaccinated.

An employee of the Gamaleya Center, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, virologist Felix Ershov said that the removal of restrictions on coronavirus in Russia may become possible by the summer. He noted that everything indicates that the pandemic in the country has begun to decline.
