A flu shot cannot cause this disease in a vaccinated person, says Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, ex-chief sanitary doctor of Russia, first deputy head of the State Duma Committee on Education and Science Gennady Onishchenko.

“This is a great nonsense, which is no coincidence,” he said, adding that there are special structures, in particular, pharmaceutical companies, discrediting “this very big and serious work”.

Onishchenko especially pointed out cases when parents do not want to vaccinate a child, fearing for his health. He shared that he is upset that mothers protected from the flu are refusing to vaccinate their children. However, the former chief sanitary doctor does not call on anyone to punish. Onishchenko believes that he and his colleagues need to be more patient and more convincing in their work so that people believe in it.

He also stressed that in 2019, about 70 million Russians were vaccinated against influenza, which suggests that these are “mostly those who are adequately related to immunization.”
