According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), over the past day in Germany, the number of newly infected people has increased by 7,334, which is almost 700 cases more than yesterday (6,638).
As of Friday, October 16, 348,557 cases of infection have been recorded in the country since the beginning of the collection of official statistical information on coronavirus. The total number of deaths from Covid-19 to date is 9,734. The R value over 4 days is 1.08.
It is estimated that there are 51,223 active cases, that is, people currently infected. This figure is not officially recorded by the Robert Koch Institute. However, as in other countries, it is determined by subtracting the number of deaths (9,734) and the estimated 287,600 recovered from all ever infected.
According to the Intensive Care Register, 658 people are currently being treated for Covid-19 in intensive care units. This represents about two percent of the more than 30,200 intensive care beds in Germany.
