The man who threw stones at the Russian Consulate General in New York for almost a week also attacked the diplomatic missions of Ukraine and Venezuela, the police department of the American metropolis said.

On August 17, Russian diplomats said that an unknown white man from August 10 to 16 threw stones at cars and the building of the consulate general, and also threatened to shoot diplomats. The attacker was arrested, but soon after he was released, he continued to attack.

The police said there were several complaints about the man’s behavior. The perpetrator was 34-year-old Reza Mashaekhi, who lives in Manhattan.

He was arrested on August 10 and charged with causing damage. After the subpoena was served, the man was released.

“He threw stones at the car and damaged the rear window and the hood … He should appear in court on November 6,” RIA Novosti quotes the police.

On August 14, the Russian diplomatic mission also reported the attack. However, the attacker was not detained, so the police admit that it was not him.

Law enforcement officers noted that Mashaekhi was detained at the consulates of Venezuela and Ukraine for similar violations. However, most likely, he will get off with a fine, added the police.
