The ancient “autobahn” was found by scientists in the vicinity of Anapa. A section of the ancient road was discovered in the area where the highway A-290 Novorossiysk – Kerch will pass. A unique find was made by scientists during excavations on the territory of an ancient estate.
An ancient road leads from south to north, the length of the site freed from the earth layer is about a hundred meters. The width of the roadway ranges from six meters in the southern part to more than twenty meters in the northern. According to preliminary estimates of archaeologists, the road was built in the middle of the 4th century BC. Until the second half of the 2nd century BC. it was actively exploited, the roadbed was periodically repaired. The exploitation time of the ancient “Autobahn” is confirmed by numerous amphoras and coins found here by archaeologists.
– This is the first time such a unique find has been found in the Krasnodar Territory. According to scientists, the road connected the countryside with the ancient Greek city of Gorgippia, – said the vice-governor of the region Sergey Boldin.
We will remind, earlier “MK in the Kuban” reported on unique artifacts found by archaeologists at the site of the future construction of the Far Western Bypass of Krasnodar. Among them are five burials, the earliest of which dates back to the beginning of the 3rd millennium BC. e. and belonged to the ancient catacomb culture, and ancient weapons, which scientists attribute to the Early Bronze Age – the third millennium BC.
