The increase in the number of people infected with the coronavirus and the rapid spread of mutated strains have led to a tightening of the mask regime in Hamburg. Starting from the weekend, residents and guests of the city will have to wear protective medical masks in all areas of the city without radiation, where it is impossible to maintain a minimum distance of one and a half meters, – said the spokesman for the Senate Marcel Schweitzer.
Most of all, this regulation applies to favorite, often visited places in Hamburg, such as the City Park (Stadtpark), Jungfernstieg or Landungsbrücken (Landungsbrücken).
The Hamburg authorities have not made any decisions regarding the relaxation of the restrictive measures. Despite the demands to open flower and construction shops, the Hamburg government, in view of the worsening epidemiological situation, decided not to take this step – “we consider this irresponsible,” summed up Schweitzer.
