A few days before the presidential election, the country, which has experienced an upsurge in the epidemic since the beginning of the autumn, recorded 94,125 new cases at 8:30 p.m., according to a statement made by AFP of the figures of the university, continuously updated.
The United States has also recorded 919 additional deaths, bringing the death toll from the disease to 229,544.
The total number of cases officially detected in the country, the most affected in the world in absolute terms, is therefore now 9,034,295.
The country had, a few hours earlier, passed the milestone of 9 million cases.
Currently, the most difficult situation is in the northern United States and the Midwest.
Four days before the November 3 election, Democratic candidate Joe Biden has made the management of the health crisis his main angle of attack against President Donald Trump.
The coronavirus pandemic has plunged the country into the worst health crisis since the Spanish flu of 1918 and the worst recession since the crisis of 1929.
On Friday, Donald Trump again downplayed the severity of COVID-19, from which he recovered.
“We just want a return to normalcy,” he said. “If you catch it, you’ll be better, and then you’ll be immune,” he told the crowd in Michigan.
