The number of cases of coronavirus in the world per day exceeded 721 thousand, according to data from the World Health Organization (WHO) on Monday, May 3.

As specified, the total number of people infected with COVID-19 was over 152.5 million.

At the same time, more than 11.7 thousand patients died in 24 hours, the total number of deaths was over 3.19 million.

WHO statistics take into account only officially confirmed data on infected and deaths that are transmitted by states.

More than half of new cases occur in Southeast Asia, including India. In second place in the number of cases are North and South America, in third – Europe.

Most of the confirmed cases of coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic were recorded in the United States – 32,047,478. India is in second place (19,925,604), in third place is Brazil (14,725,975). This is followed by France, Turkey, Russia, Great Britain, Italy, Spain and Germany.

In terms of mortality for the entire time of the pandemic, the United States is in the lead (571 302), Brazil is on the second line (406 437), India is on the third (218 959). They are followed by Mexico, Great Britain, Italy, Russia, France, Germany and Spain.

On the eve of the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko said that the epidemiological situation in Russia remains tense. He stressed that for the formation of herd immunity, about 69.8 million Russians need to be vaccinated.
