The Murmansk Animal Welfare Center plans to expand the base of enclosures in the summer of 2021. So that the institution could keep 100 more dogs, the city and regional authorities have jointly allocated 2.1 million rubles.

This became known after the meeting of the head of the city administration Yevgeny Nikora with representatives of animal protection organizations.

“This is not our last meeting. Next week we will go to the city animal center. It is still necessary to find a contractor to carry out the work, ”Evgeny Nikora told Bi-Port. He added that they agreed to meet with the animal rights activists every month.

The agenda of the meeting discussed the participation of public organizations in the implementation of municipal contracts for the capture and keeping of animals.

Recall that a grant competition for non-profit organizations – shelters for homeless animals – is planned to be announced in May 2021. The government allocated 3.5 million rubles for this purpose.
