The former director of the Center for Tourism, Recreation and Recreation of the Altai Republic forged documents and appropriated more than 1 million rubles from the budget for the improvement of Manzherokskoye Lake.
According to the regional prosecutor’s office, he entered into two fictitious agreements with one of the companies on the provision of rescue services to ensure security measures on the lake’s beach for a total of 1,115,000 rubles. But in fact, the company did not provide services, reports altapress.ru.
“At the same time, the director of a budgetary institution, submitting fictitious acts of work performed to the financial department, prepared fake payment documents for the transfer of budgetary funds to the specified legal entity,” the supervisory authority notes. Then the director of the company cashed the money and handed it over to the head of the Center.
Manzherokskoye Lake is a lake in the Altai Republic, located on the terrace of the right bank of the Katun, at an altitude of 373 m above sea level. The Altai name of the lake is Doingol. The lake is 1112 m long, the maximum width is 400 m, the depth is 2.5–2.8 m, the area is 37.6 hectares. The village of the same name is located 2 km from the lake, on the banks of the Katun River. Near the lake is the village of Ozernoe. The lake is a natural monument. Many tourist centers organize excursions here.
