In the Pskov region, the death rate has increased – such data was announced by Pskovstat. As the department told “MK in Pskov”, experts summarize the operational results of the socio-economic development of the region in the past 2020.
According to the data received, 11,776 people died in the region from January to December last year. Compared to 2019, the death rate in the region increased by 11.8%. For every thousand inhabitants of the Pskov region, there were an average of 18.9 deaths.
“In general, in the Russian Federation and the Northwestern Federal District, the mortality rate was 14.5 deaths per 1000 population and increased by 17.9% and 16.9%, respectively,” commented in the territorial body of the Federal State Statistics Service in the Pskov region.
At the same time, the birth rate in the region decreased by almost 6% (compared to 2019). From January to December 2020, 4,995 babies were born. That is, for every thousand of the region’s population in the past year, there were on average 8 newborns. We add that the birth rate fell in general in the Northwestern Federal District – by 5.2%, as well as in Russia – by 3%.
