Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin on Friday, November 6, expressed condolences to the family and friends of the deceased satirist Mikhail Zhvanetsky.

“Miniatures, texts, reprises, monologues by Mikhail Zhvanetsky have become classics of the genre. Each work contains satire and philosophy, wisdom and wit, subtle irony, deep meaning. He, like no one else, was able to speak with humor about serious things, touchingly, with a constant smile to tell about the difficulties of life, made him think, laugh at himself, “- said the head of the Cabinet.

Also, the chairman of the Russian government called the satirist an unsurpassed improviser and storyteller, a man of great talent for creative energy.

Earlier that day, singer Alla Pugacheva announced the death of Zhvanetsky. She called his departure an irreparable loss.

On October 7, Zhvanetsky announced his decision to stop his creative activity. As his representative explained, Zhvanetsky felt that “you need to grow old at home”.

The artist’s representative Oleg Stashkevich said that the artist completed his stage activities back in January, and at the end of 2019 he closed the program “Duty in the country”. He explained this by “age”, which no longer allowed to work.

Mikhail Zhvanetsky is a satirist who began his work as a student. Later he met Arkady Raikin, who took him to his theater.

He was the artistic director of the Moscow Theater of Miniatures created by him. From 2002 to 2019 he hosted the programs “Duty in the country” on the channel “Russia 1”.

Zhvanetsky is the author of more than a dozen books, laureate of many awards, People’s Artist of Ukraine and the Russian Federation.
