Russians who make purchases on the Internet no longer have to confirm each transaction with an SMS code. Payment systems and banks began to implement a new security standard 3D-Secure 2.0, which qualifies some operations as low-risk and does not require additional identity verification. This system for Mir cards has already been connected by 140 credit organizations, and the rest are undergoing certification, Izvestia was told in the National Payment Card System (NSPK).

The new security standard makes the process seamless for the client, reduces the rate of abandonment of operations, and also allows banks to save on SMS. 3D-Secure 2.0 will make it possible to authenticate and confirm the transaction based on risk analysis without additional contacting the cardholder.

The client, in turn, will not have to enter the code from the SMS from the bank to make an online purchase, the press service of the Mir payment system noted.

Promsvyazbank, Sovcombank, UBRD, Crimean RNKB, Dom.RF, Vostochny Bank and SKB-Bank were among those who connected 3D-Secure 2.0 to Mir, their representatives told Izvestia. The NSPK stressed that support for the new standard for Mir issuers is mandatory.

Promsvyazbank, Sovcombank and UBRD have already introduced a new security standard when paying with Visa and MasterCard. The banks Dom.RF, Vostochny and SKB are working on the launch of technology for international payment systems. VTB, MKB, Alfa and Home Credit Bank told Izvestia that they are in the process of implementing functionality for cards of all payment systems.
