The Federal Ministry of Health and Welfare has reported that 489,392 have been identified in Germany since the start of the pandemic. On Thursday evening, federal states reported 18,179 cases of infection in the past day. Thus, the terrible number of infected, which the Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel warned about – 19,200 cases by Christmas, almost reached by the end of October. The number named by Merkel at the end of September then seemed to the inhabitants of the country a fiction.
The highest increases in the last 24 hours were recorded in North Rhine-Westphalia (+4 772), Bavaria (+3 057) and Baden-Württemberg (+2 311). Since the beginning of the pandemic in Germany, 10,258 people have died as a result of the coronavirus. Over the past 24 hours, the number of victims of Covid-19 has increased by 89 people.
According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), 339,200 people have recovered to date. Thus, now 139,938 residents of the country are sick with the virus. Yesterday the number of “active carriers” was 128,244. However, the reproduction rate R decreased from 1.03 to 0.97. The number of Covid patients requiring treatment in intensive care units has increased by 124 compared to the previous day, amounting to 1,701 patients. 832 of them are connected to artificial lung ventilation devices.
