A series of explosions rang out in the center of Stepanakert, the capital of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR). This was reported on October 4 by a RIA Novosti correspondent.
It is said that after each explosion, the characteristic sound of flying debris was heard. What targets were hit is not specified.
In the morning, air raid sirens went off in the city. The night came calmly.
Earlier that day, the Armenian Defense Ministry showed a video of the consequences of previous shelling of the city. In the frame, you can see shell craters, crumpled cars and destroyed buildings.
The night before, artillery shells exploded in the city. As a result of the impact, a building materials warehouse caught fire, and a fire broke out at a local power plant. According to the deputy of the Armenian parliament Arman Abovyan, who is in the city, Stepanakert is completely de-energized.
Izvestia obtained a video of a house in Stepanakert, damaged by shelling on October 2. As you can see in the footage, the iron doors in the building have been torn out, not a single apartment has survived, the cars parked near the house are broken.
Another aggravation of the situation in the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic occurred on September 27 this year. Armenia and Azerbaijan blamed each other for shelling and killed among the military and civilians.
Russia, France, the United States and the UN called on the parties to a ceasefire and a peaceful settlement of the conflict.
