French leader Emmanuel Macron called the murder of a history teacher in the Conflans-Saint-Honorine commune near Paris a terrorist attack.
“Our compatriot was killed for teaching, for teaching children freedom of speech, freedom to believe or not to believe. Our compatriot became a victim of a terrorist attack, ”he said from the scene.
According to the BFMTV television channel, the attacker on the teacher near Paris was not on the list of persons wanted by the police. At the same time, the journalists noted, “he was known for cases of crimes related to civil law.”
According to French media reports, the teacher decided to show a caricature of the Prophet Muhammad in a lesson on freedom of speech. Previously, the teacher suggested that students professing Islam leave the class. Later, the parents complained about the teacher, and the father of one of the students posted a video on the network criticizing the teacher. Currently, investigators are checking whether the murder that happened is related to this video.
The alleged criminal who attacked the history teacher, according to preliminary data, could have been born in Moscow. However, there is no official confirmation of the information.
