Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that head of state Vladimir Putin spoke with him twice at night during the talks on Nagorno-Karabakh in Moscow.

The Russian Foreign Minister noted that the negotiations were unique.

“At the decisive moment, the president made his contribution, because he controlled our night vigils, and somewhere deep in the night we spoke to him twice,” Lavrov said.

As he said in an interview with Russian radio stations, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu also called on the phone. According to him, it was important to agree on the issue that the declaration of an armistice would not be very sufficient, “if there is no mechanism for monitoring the ceasefire.”

Following the consultations on Nagorno-Karabakh in Moscow, Yerevan and Baku agreed on a ceasefire in the combat zone from 12:00 on October 10.
