Krasnodar International Airport has limited the reception of aircraft due to snowfall. This was announced on Sunday, January 10, by the press service of the air harbor on its official VKontakte page.
“On January 10, 2021, the Krasnodar airport limited the reception of aircraft until 15:00 due to increased precipitation and the need to clear the airfield from snow,” the airport said.
Airport officials said that by 11:00, seven flights were directed to other airfields, including four to Rostov-on-Don, two to Mineralnye Vody, and one to Anapa. At the same time, it is specified that at 10:40 am, five flights were delayed for arrival, and 11 for departure.
Currently, there are about 900 passengers in the airport terminal, with whom representatives of airlines work.
12 units of special equipment are cleared of snow from the runway and apron. It is noted that in the next two hours in the region is expected to increase precipitation.
“We clarify that the situation with the temporary closure of the strip for clearing is a standard procedure in the conditions of snowfall,” the press service concluded.
According to the online scoreboard of the air harbor, the departures of eight flights, which were supposed to take place in the past three hours, have been postponed to 15:00 and later.
On Sunday morning, the regional head office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations issued a warning about unfavorable weather conditions in the Krasnodar Territory. The department reported heavy precipitation in the form of rain and sleet, as well as ice. Then the rescuers urgently warned local residents about the sticking of wet snow on the wires and trees.
