While no foreign media were invited, footage provided by the government shows an emotional Kim during his speech for the 75e anniversary of the founding of the Workers’ Party.
The leader has repeatedly thanked his army and his fellow citizens for their “efforts” in the fight against COVID-19, ensuring that there was “not a single person” with the coronavirus in his country.
Several soldiers were also seen in tears during this speech.
The North Korean leader also wished “good health to all people around the world who fight the evils of the evil virus”, while US President Donald Trump, declared positive, was recently hospitalized.
