Employees of the Investigative Committee (IC) detained the head of the city of Ust-Kut, Irkutsk region, Alexander Dushin at the airport. This was reported on Friday, October 2, by the UK24 website.

The journalists stated that they did not know the motives for the arrest of the official, but they assume that this episode may be connected with the consequences of the elections for the post of mayor of the Ust-Kutsk region.

In the UK, in turn, they have not officially commented on the information about the detention of the mayor yet.

In April, a video circulated on social media in which several people detained regional administration officials and accused them of intending to set fire to the forest. At the same time, no fires are visible, and among the activists there is a person similar to the head of Ust-Kut, Alexander Dushin.

At the same time, the officials called the accusations libel and claimed that they had come to the forest to patrol the thermal point and check the compliance with the special fire-prevention regime in the region. The regional authorities said that the officials went to inspect the hotbeds of wildfires, after which they stopped communicating.

Later, the residents of Ust-Kut beat the officials of the administration of the Ust-Kutsk region, who had previously been suspected of trying to set fire to the forest.
