The American authorities are not releasing from custody Russian citizen Bogdana Osipova, convicted of abducting her own child, despite the relevant decision of the federal and appellate courts in the United States. This was announced on Friday, November 6, by the stepfather of the Russian woman Anthony Filipyuk.

“Now they do not release Bogdana and demand from us a bail of $ 10 thousand as a guarantee that Bogdana will not go anywhere and will be present online at the meeting where she will be sentenced – the same one for which she has already served her sentence,” said Filipyuk to TASS.

The stepfather of the Russian woman recalled that according to the decision of the federal judge, the release of Osipova should be carried out “immediately and on standard terms.”

At the same time, the Russian women applied for bail to the relatives of the Russian women from the office supervising the convicts from the state of Kansas, although, according to the decision of the federal court, the case was transferred to the same office in the eastern part of New York.

“But, as we can see, no one intends to fulfill it (the court’s decision – Ed.): Bogdan is not released and they demand a bail in an amount that we cannot have. We’ve already spent all the money we could, got into debt to pay for three teams of lawyers. Where do the thousands of dollars come from? ” – said the interlocutor of the agency.

Filipyuk also called it “abuse of office and violation of every conceivable human rights.”

The day before, on November 5, a federal court in the United States ordered Osipova’s release. In addition, the court has appointed a new sentence for Osipova on January 8.

Earlier, on October 21, the US Court of Appeal overturned a lower court order that extended Osipova’s detention. However, he did not make a decision to release the Russian woman.

On June 6, the Wichita federal district court sentenced Osipova to seven years in prison for kidnapping and transporting her own children outside of the United States, as well as for extortion. However, the court of appeal dismissed the extortion charges against the Russian woman and the demand to pay off her ex-husband’s lawyers’ expenses. After that, the case was sent to the Wichita court for a new verdict without regard to these articles.

In 2014, Osipova, who has Russian and American citizenship, took her one-year-old daughter from the ex-spouse’s family in the United States, after which the child was put on the wanted list. In Russia, a woman filed a lawsuit to determine the place of residence of two children from a marriage with an American. The court left the minors to the Russian woman and determined their place of residence in the Russian Federation.

In September 2017, Osipova again came to the United States, she was detained on charges of kidnapping her own child, since, according to US law, children born in a marriage with an American must remain in this country.

On June 8, the ex-husband offered Osipova to share custody of the children. The Russian woman herself, according to him, is against it. The children are now in Kaliningrad under the care of her Russian aunt.
