Three batches of contaminated tangerines brought from Turkey have been identified in temporary storage warehouses of FVK Sever LLC and Taskom JSC in the Kaluga Region. This was reported by the Rosselkhoznadzor department. The total weight of the fruit was 59.3 tons.

During quarantine phytosanitary control on mandarins, a dangerous pest was identified. Entomological examination confirmed the presence of a Mediterranean fruit fly on the fruit. It belongs to the most harmful species and damages about 200 species of plants, including garden, fruit and berry and citrus crops. The fruits rot from the inside while the larvae grow in them.

The fruits were to be delivered to Moscow and the Krasnodar Territory. However, the import of tangerines is now prohibited.
