In the South Korean city of Ulsan, a 33-storey residential complex caught fire, the Yonhap news agency reported.

The video footage published on the network shows how the fire spreads rapidly, literally “devouring” the building. Thousands of residents of the apartment building were evacuated. According to the fire service, at least 50 people were seriously injured from asphyxiation by smoke, and many were diagnosed with respiratory burns. It is suffocation that becomes the main cause of death in fires.

The building was reported on fire at 23:00 local time. Presumably, the fire was located between the 8th and 12th floors. Strong winds helped the fire spread to all floors in no time. The cause of the ignition has not yet been found. Firefighters are trying to take control of the fire.
