The deputy prosecutor of the Smolensk region approved the indictment in the criminal case against the organizer and six members of an organized criminal group who were involved in kidnapping and extortion of property and money.
Depending on the role of each of them, they are charged with committing crimes under the articles “Kidnapping”, “Extortion” and “Theft of firearms”.
According to the senior assistant to the regional prosecutor for interaction with the media and the public, senior adviser of justice Alexander Borovikov, from September 2016 to December 2018, the organizer created an organized group, which included 10 people.
Then, with the use of violence dangerous to life and health, and with the threat of such violence, one after another, they abducted nine citizens and, in extortion, took possession of AUDI Q7, Chevrolet Cruze cars, money and other property stolen for a total amount of more than 22 million rubles. In addition, they stole a Mazda 323 car without the purpose of stealing, and also stole limited firearms.
Pre-trial cooperation agreements were concluded with 3 accused, therefore their criminal cases were separated into separate proceedings.
The criminal case with an approved indictment was sent to the Smolensk Regional Court for consideration on the merits.
