About 285 thousand cases of coronavirus disease have been recorded in Russia since the beginning of 2021, which is 15% less than in the last twelve days of last year. This was announced on Wednesday, January 13, by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova.
“From the beginning of 2021 to the present day, about 285 thousand cases of new coronavirus infection have been detected in Russia. If this is compared with the last 12 days of December, we will see a decrease of more than 15%, ”she said at a meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin with members of the government.
In addition, according to Golikova, during the holidays it was possible to keep the testing of the population for a new coronavirus infection at a fairly high level.
The Deputy Prime Minister also added that research is currently underway in Russia in connection with the emergence of the “British” strain of coronavirus, the situation is being closely monitored.
She clarified that the results of the research will be reported to the President upon completion.
On the eve of the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova announced the stabilization of the incidence of coronavirus in Russia. In addition, she stressed that there was a 16% decrease in the number of hospitalized with COVID-19.
In Russia, over the past day, 22,850 new cases of COVID-19 were registered in 85 regions. Over the past 24 hours, 566 people have died from complications related to COVID-19. Another 28 658 people recovered.
