In the Primorsky Territory, a criminal case was opened against a local resident who hijacked a passenger bus and rammed several patrol cars on it, according to the website of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the region on Wednesday, February 3.
The incident took place in the city of Artem. The duty station received a message about the hijacking of a Hyundai County passenger bus from the organization’s territory on the street. Pestel.
“The officers of the State Traffic Inspectorate found the stolen property with traces of a road accident on the section of the Khabarovsk-Vladivostok state road. The driver of the vehicle provoked a car accident with a Mitsubishi Fuso truck and fled the scene, continuing to move, ”it was reported.
Police officers organized the pursuit of the offender. Leaving the chase, the man rammed patrol cars, posing a threat to the life and health of other road users.
After unsuccessful demands to stop the bus, the traffic police officers used service weapons and fired at the wheels. The man drove off the road into a ditch, where he was detained and taken to the police station.
“The detainee was a 33-year-old resident of the city of Artyom, who had never received a driver’s license. He explained that he had stolen a passenger bus to get to Ussuriisk. According to the results of a medical examination, the driver was found to be intoxicated, ”the department noted.
Administrative materials have been drawn up against the offender, and a criminal case has been initiated under Part 1. Art. 166 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Unlawful seizure of a vehicle without the purpose of theft”). The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to five years.
